Duni Zenaye is originally from Ethiopia. She grew up in the capital city of Addis Ababa and moved to the US in her teens. She has sisters who were adopted and her family is passionate about children without parental care finding permanent loving homes.
Three years ago, Duni, her husband Abenet, and their children moved to Ethiopia to develop child placement programs. While living in Ethiopia, Duni facilitated adoptions for over 300 families. Knowing fairly well that adoption alone cannot help eliminate the orphan crises in Ethiopia, she was also able to develop domestic adoption and other family empowerment programs.
After noticing the lack of resources for American adoptive parents of Ethiopian children, Duni founded EthioStork in 2007. EthioStork walks families through the adoption process and beyond, providing information about the Ethiopian culture, the adoption process as a whole, and assist families through the many challenges of trans-racial adoptions.
